The median house in Seminole was built in 1972. That single number explains most of our work here: the city is full of solid, well-built bathrooms whose surfaces are simply fifty years old.
Catalina Estates, the streets off Seminole Boulevard and 113th, and most of unincorporated Seminole: single-storey ranch houses around 2,000 square feet, two baths, standard five-foot alcove tubs with the original tile surround. The tubs are usually porcelain over steel or cast iron, stained rather than damaged. This is the straightforward half of our work, and the wall tile can be done in the same visit.
Harbor Lights, Mission Oaks and the other age-restricted condo and villa communities. Small bathrooms, original tubs with a high side to step over, and an association that wants to know what you are bringing into the building. The epoxy process is odorless with no demolition, so the unit stays livable, and we send proof of insurance before we come. The built-in non-slip bottom from $60 is the add-on we recommend most here.
Oakhurst Shores, the Bayou Club and the houses along the bayous are a different conversation. There the question is not whether the tub can be saved but whether the finish will look right next to a bathroom somebody already spent money on. That is what the hand-poured process is for: a full-depth, even surface rather than a thin sprayed skin.
The low-lying western edge of Seminole, closest to the Intracoastal and the beaches, took water in the September 2024 surge. A tub that sat in saltwater is very often structurally fine and only looks ruined. Refinishing costs a fraction of replacement at a point when every dollar is already spoken for. Seminole has a large rental pocket and a steady flow of listings. For a unit that has to look clean in a photo and hold up for the next tenant, the spray option is usually the right call, and property managers and realtors get $50 off. My house is from the early 1970s. Is the tub worth saving?
Usually yes. Seminole’s median house dates to 1972, and tubs from that era are heavier and better made than most of what is sold new today. What is worn is the surface, not the tub.
Will the new finish match a bathroom that was already remodelled?
That is the reason we push the hand-poured option here rather than a thin sprayed coat. It goes on full depth and evens out, so it sits properly next to newer tile and fittings.
I am in a 55+ community. Can you work there?
