We are based in St. Petersburg and Largo is a twenty minute drive, so it is part of our regular route rather than something we subcontract. The owner is on your job. Most tubs are finished in a single day: hand-poured epoxy from $550 with a 5-year warranty, or a budget spray refresh from $420.
Largo has more retirement condos, manufactured homes and rentals per block than anywhere else we work, and each of those means a different tub and a different decision.
Most of these buildings went up between the early 1970s and the early 1980s. Lakeview of Largo alone is 399 condos built between 1972 and 1982, and it is one of many. The bathrooms are usually original: a short alcove tub with a high side to step over, and tile that was chosen once and never changed. Replacing a tub on the second floor means carrying it down a shared corridor, a permit, and usually an association approval. Refinishing skips all of that and takes a day.
There are dozens of parks in and around Largo, and those tubs are a different animal: thin fiberglass or plastic, often moulded into a one-piece surround. They can be refinished, but they need different preparation and a lighter hand than cast iron. Send photos first. If the floor of the tub flexes badly or the surface is cracked through, we will tell you a coating will not hold, rather than take your money and watch it fail.
Central Largo is full of concrete block houses from the post-war decades: three bedrooms, one or two baths, a standard five-foot alcove tub and the original tile surround. Straightforward jobs, and the wall tile can be done at the same visit.
Larger homes, more remodels, and more cast iron. Here the question is usually not whether the tub can be saved but whether the finish will look right next to a bathroom that was updated five years ago. That is what the hand-poured process is for: a full-depth, even surface rather than a thin sprayed skin.
Largo turns over a lot of rental units, and landlords and realtors are a large part of what we do here. For a unit that needs to look clean in a listing photo and hold up for the next tenant, the spray option is usually the right call, and property managers get $50 off. For an owner staying in the home, we will say so and recommend the epoxy instead.

Do you work in 55+ condo buildings in Largo?
Yes, and the epoxy process suits them. It is completely odorless, there is no demolition and no dumpster, and the unit stays livable. If the association needs proof of insurance before we come, we can send it.

Can you add a non-slip bottom while you are there?

The tub is fine but the tile around it is stained. Can you do that too?
Yes. Wall tile and the tub can be done in the same visit, which is usually cheaper than booking two jobs and means one day of disruption instead of two.
