Bathtub Refinishing in Clearwater, Florida

We are based in St. Petersburg, about 25 minutes from the Clearwater bridge, and we are up in Clearwater most weeks. When you call, you reach the family that does the work, and the owner is on your job rather than a crew sent down from another county. Most tubs are finished in a single day: hand-poured epoxy from $550 with a 5-year warranty, or a budget spray refresh from $420.

What we find in Clearwater bathrooms

Clearwater is several housing markets stacked on top of each other, and the tub usually tells us which one we are standing in before anyone explains the house.

Harbor Oaks and the older streets off Fort Harrison

The Harbor Oaks district was laid out in the early 1900s by the developer Dean Alvord, and it still holds 81 historic buildings between Druid Road, South Fort Harrison Avenue and the harbour. Bathrooms here often keep the original cast iron tub and the original tile, and that tile is the reason not to tear anything out: matching field tile from the 1920s is a losing game. Hand-poured epoxy gives you a new surface and leaves the walls alone.

Skycrest and the 1950s ranch blocks

Mid-century ranch houses on wide lots, mostly built through the 1950s. Standard five-foot alcove tubs, usually with the original tile surround, and often a second bathroom that has not been touched since the house went up. Straightforward jobs, and the wall tile can be done in the same visit.

Island Estates and the canal homes

Island Estates was dredged out of the harbour and built up mainly through the 1960s and 1970s, with the median house dating to around 1975. Those bathrooms are usually original cast iron or porcelain over steel, sitting a few doors down from full rebuilds. Either way it is worth ten minutes on the phone before anyone quotes you a replacement.

Condos on Clearwater Beach, Sand Key and Mandalay

A different job entirely. Beach condos are usually fiberglass or acrylic units from the 1970s through the 2000s, thinner and more flexible than cast iron, and they need different preparation. We will say up front when a spray refresh is the sensible choice instead of the premium coating. Building rules matter here too: the epoxy process is odorless, there is no demolition and no dumpster, the unit stays livable, and we can send your association proof of insurance before we come.

If you are still putting a place back together after Helene

The September 2024 surge went through homes and businesses across the barrier island, and parts of Clearwater Beach were still being cleaned out weeks later. A tub that sat in saltwater usually looks far worse than it is: stained, dull and chalky, but structurally sound. Refinishing costs a fraction of replacement at a point when every dollar is already committed. Send photos and we will tell you honestly whether yours is worth saving.

Countryside and the north end

The subdivisions north of Drew Street are newer, and much of what we do there is rental and pre-sale work: a tub that has to look clean in a listing photo and hold up for the next tenant. That is what the spray option is for, and we will tell you when it is enough.

Common questions from Clearwater

You are in St. Pete. Do you actually come out to Clearwater?
Yes, most weeks. Clearwater and the beaches are part of our regular route, not a subcontract. The owner is on the job.

I live in a condo on the beach. Will the building allow this?
Usually yes, and it is exactly why we recommend the epoxy process there. It is completely odorless, there is no demolition, and the unit stays livable throughout. If your association needs proof of insurance, we are a registered and insured Florida business and can send it over.

My tub was under saltwater after the 2024 storms. Can it be saved?
Often, yes. Send us photos. A tub that looks ruined is frequently just stained and dull, and that is what refinishing fixes. If it is genuinely damaged past saving, we will tell you rather than take the job.

My house is from the 1920s and the tub is cast iron. Is it worth refinishing?
Almost always. Cast iron tubs from that era are better made than most tubs you can buy new, and pulling one out usually means damaging tile and sometimes a doorway. Refinishing gives you a new surface without any of that.
